This panel includes a set of tests to evaluate clotting factor deficiencies, particularly Factor VIII and IX, to diagnose hemophilia A or B.
It is ordered in cases of unexplained bleeding, prolonged aPTT, or a family history of hemophilia.
Blood samples are analyzed for specific clotting factor activity levels and sometimes genetic testing is included for confirmation.
Low factor levels confirm the type and severity of hemophilia. Genetic tests can identify carriers and inform treatment plans.
No special preparation is necessary. Testing may need to be repeated for accurate diagnosis.
