COMPLETE FEVER PROFILE WITH RAPID CHIKUNGUNYA Package in Bengaluru Overview

This is a comprehensive diagnostic panel used to evaluate the cause of fever, especially in regions where multiple infectious diseases like dengue, chikungunya, malaria, typhoid, and bacterial infections are common. It helps clinicians pinpoint the cause and manage treatment effectively.

Test Components and Their Purpose

  1. CBC (Complete Blood Count)
    • Measures red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets.
    • Helps detect infections, anemia, and inflammation.
  2. ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)
    • Measures the rate at which red blood cells settle at the bottom of a test tube.
    • Elevated ESR indicates inflammation or infection.
  3. CRP (C-Reactive Protein)
    • Measures the level of CRP protein in blood.
    • High levels indicate acute inflammation or infection.
  4. Bactec Blood Culture
    • Detects the presence of bacteria or fungi in the blood.
    • Useful for diagnosing bloodstream infections and sepsis.
  5. Dengue Duo (NS1 Antigen, IgG & IgM)
    • NS1 Antigen: Detects dengue virus early in infection.
    • IgM & IgG Antibodies: Detect recent or past dengue infection.
  6. Chikungunya IgM (Rapid Antibody Test)
    • Detects IgM antibodies specific to chikungunya virus.
    • Indicates recent or ongoing chikungunya infection.
  7. WIDAL Test
    • Detects antibodies against Salmonella typhi and paratyphi.
    • Used to diagnose typhoid fever.
  8. Urinalysis
    • Analyzes urine for signs of infection, dehydration, or other abnormalities.
    • Helps detect urinary tract infections or systemic illnesses.
  9. Smear for Malarial Parasite
    • Blood smear examined under microscope to detect malaria parasites.
    • Identifies species and parasite load.

Why is this panel important?

  • Multi-disease screening: Fever can be caused by many infections; this panel screens for several common tropical infections.
  • Early diagnosis: Rapid tests for dengue NS1 and chikungunya IgM allow timely treatment.
  • Differential diagnosis: Helps differentiate viral vs bacterial vs parasitic causes of fever.
  • Guides treatment: Identifies if antibiotics or specific antiviral/antiparasitic therapy is needed.
