HIV EARLY SCREEN

HIV early screen tests can detect the HIV virus before symptoms appear. There are several types of HIV tests, includingNucleic acid tests (NATs) Also called viral load tests, these tests can detect HIV 10 to 33 days after exposure. They are usually used to monitor HIV treatment, not for routine screening. Antigen/antibody tests These tests can detect HIV 18 to 45 days after exposure when done with a blood sample from a vein, and 18 to 90 days after exposure when done with a finger prick. Antibody tests These tests can detect HIV 23 to 90 days after exposure. Most rapid tests and self-tests are antibody tests.
