COMPREHENSIVE MYELOMA PROTEIN PANEL Package in Mumbai Overview

What is Comprehensive Myeloma Protein Panel (CMPP) test?

The Comprehensive Myeloma Protein Panel is a diagnostic test used to detect and monitor multiple myeloma, a cancer that starts in plasma cells of the bone marrow. This panel tests for explicit atypical proteins (such as monoclonal proteins or M-proteins) that are often found in the blood of individuals with multiple myeloma or related disorders.

Components:

  1. Serum Protein Electrophoresis
  2. Immunofixation Electrophoresis
  3. Immunoglobulin (IgG,IgM,IgA)
  4. Serum Free Light Chain Kappa & Lambda Ratio
  5. Beta 2-Microglobulin

Why Comprehensive Myeloma Protein Panel (CMPP) test?

  • This test is primarily used to help diagnose multiple myeloma, a cancer affecting the bone marrow and plasma cells.
  • It can also be used to identify monoclonal gammopathy, which can be a precursor to myeloma or a sign of another plasma cell disorder.
  • It can be used to monitor disease progression, assess the effectiveness of treatment, and detect relapses of myeloma.

Who should get for tested for Comprehensive Myeloma Protein Panel (CMPP)?

  • Individuals showing signs and symptoms such as unexplained bone pain, fatigue, anemia, or frequent infections, which may suggest multiple myeloma or other plasma cell disorders.
  • Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of multiple myeloma who are undergoing treatment or need follow-up tests to monitor the disease.
  • Individuals at risk due to a family history of hematologic cancers.

More about Comprehensive Myeloma Protein Panel (CMPP)

Other names: Multiple Myeloma, Myeloma Panel, Comprehensive Myeloma Panel

This test typically involves blood and urine samples, and it may also include tests to detect Bence Jones proteins (light chains of immunoglobulins) and other specific plasma cell markers. Regular monitoring is important in managing multiple myeloma.
