The recipient antibody status test evaluates the presence of pre-formed antibodies in organ or tissue transplant recipients. It helps assess the risk of organ rejection.
It is conducted before organ transplantation to determine compatibility between donor and recipient and to minimize rejection risk.
A blood sample is analyzed using flow cytometry or Luminex assays to detect the presence of donor-specific antibodies (DSAs).
- Positive status: Indicates the presence of donor-specific antibodies, increasing the risk of rejection.
Negative status: Suggests lower risk of antibody-mediated rejection.
