This test measures IgA antibodies against gliadin, a protein found in wheat. It is used in the evaluation of celiac disease.
To help diagnose celiac disease, especially in individuals showing symptoms of malabsorption or gluten intolerance.
A blood sample is collected and analyzed using ELISA or similar methods.
Elevated levels of antigliadin IgA antibodies may suggest celiac disease, but further confirmatory tests are needed.
No preparation is typically required, but the patient should be consuming gluten before testing for accurate results.
