Allergen - Soyabean

The Allergen – Soya Bean, Serum test is a blood test that measures specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to soya bean to determine whether an individual has developed an allergen sensitivity to it. Soya bean is a widely consumed legume found in products such as soya milk, tofu, edamame, infant formula, processed foods, nutritional supplements, and certain medications.

Who Should Get This Test Done?

This test may be recommended if individuals:

●      Experience oral itching, lip swelling, throat tingling, or other allergic symptoms after consuming soya-containing foods or beverages.

●      Develop hives, itching, skin redness, or worsening eczema following exposure to soya products.

●      Have nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, or other gastrointestinal symptoms that consistently occur after eating soya.

●      Have experienced a severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis after consuming soya, or are an infant being evaluated for possible soya sensitisation before switching to a soya-based formula.

●      Have a known allergy to other legumes, a birch pollen allergy with reactions to soya products, or are being evaluated for multiple food allergies where soya is a suspected trigger.
