What is the PGS Embryo 6 Test?

Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) Embryo 6 assesses all 24 chromosome pairs in embryos created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) to detect chromosomal abnormalities before implantation.


Who should get this test?

This test is recommended for:

Couples with recurrent pregnancy loss.
Women undergoing IVF at an advanced maternal age (>35 years).
Individuals with a history of chromosomal abnormalities.
Couples with unexplained infertility.



How is the test performed?

A few cells are biopsied from the embryo at the blastocyst stage, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) or array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) is used to analyze the chromosomal makeup.


What do the results indicate?


Euploid Embryos: Normal chromosomal count, increasing the chance of a successful pregnancy.
Aneuploid Embryos: Abnormal chromosomal count, which may lead to failed implantation or miscarriage.



Why is this test important?

PGS enhances the likelihood of successful implantation and a healthy pregnancy by selecting chromosomally normal embryos for transfer.
