  • Tumors with gastric, epithelioid morphology or low/negative KIT IHC, which are enriched for PDGFRA alterations and derive management benefit from precise genotyping.
  • Patients being considered for TKI therapy or clinical trials with eligibility contingent on PDGFRA mutation status, particularly exon 18 D842V.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare cancers that develop in the specialized cells of the digestive tract wall, known as the interstitial cells of Cajal. Most GISTs occur in the stomach or small intestine, driven by gene mutations (primarily in the KIT gene) that cause uncontrolled cell growth.
