CD5 is a marker found on T-cells and B-cells. This flow cytometry test measures the percentage of CD5-positive cells, aiding in the diagnosis of T-cell lymphomas and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

This test quantifies the percentage of CD5-expressing lymphocytes, mainly T cells, but also some B cells in certain leukemias.
It helps in diagnosing and monitoring lymphoproliferative disorders like chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and T-cell lymphomas.
A peripheral blood or bone marrow sample is analyzed by flow cytometry.
Abnormally high CD5+ B-cell populations are indicative of certain hematologic malignancies and may guide further diagnostic workup.
No special preparation is needed. Inform the clinician of any medications affecting immune function.
