This test rapidly detects common bacterial pathogens responsible for meningitis using a single cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sample.
To quickly identify the bacterial cause of meningitis and guide appropriate antimicrobial treatment.
A lumbar puncture is performed to obtain a CSF sample, which is tested using multiplex PCR for bacteria such as Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and others.
Positive results indicate the presence of bacterial DNA. Negative results suggest that the tested pathogens are not present.
The lumbar puncture may require fasting or specific positioning; the healthcare provider will provide instructions.
