PROTEIN C ANTIGEN(CITRATED PLASMA, ELFA)
Measures the level of protein C antigen in plasma, which is involved in regulating blood coagulation. Deficiency in protein C can lead to an increased risk of venous thromboembolism. The ELFA (enzyme-linked fluorescent assay) method is used to quantify the antigen level.

- Protein C Antigen (citrated Plasma, Elfa)
This test measures the level of Protein C in the blood using the Enzyme-Linked Fluorescent Assay (ELFA) technique. Protein C is a natural anticoagulant that regulates blood clot formation.
It helps in evaluating patients with unexplained blood clots or a family history of thrombophilia. Deficiency of Protein C can lead to an increased risk of venous thromboembolism.
A blood sample is collected in a citrate tube and processed to isolate plasma. The ELFA method detects and quantifies Protein C antigen levels.
Low levels of Protein C indicate a deficiency that may be inherited or acquired due to liver disease, vitamin K deficiency, or anticoagulant therapy. Normal levels suggest a low likelihood of Protein C deficiency.
Avoid anticoagulant medications if advised, and fasting may be recommended. Inform the healthcare provider about ongoing treatments or medical conditions.
