CD56 is a neural cell adhesion molecule expressed in natural killer (NK) cells and some T-cells. It is used in diagnosing neuroendocrine tumors, including small cell lung cancer and neuroblastomas. It can also help identify NK-cell neoplasms and other hematologic malignancies.
