A 5Q deletion (del(5q)) - a chromosomal abnormality found in the following:
- Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)
- Certain types of leukemia
Getting tested for 5Q deletion (del(5q)) helps in determining prognosis and treatment strategies.
A FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) test is used to detect missing genetic material in chromosome 5.
