Fibrinogen

The Fibrinogen test measures the level of fibrinogen, a protein made by the liver that is essential for blood clotting and also rises during inflammation. Fibrinogen (Factor I) is converted into fibrin to form a blood clot. It is an acute-phase reactant, meaning levels increase with infection, inflammation, or tissue injury.
