This test screens for allergic reactions to a variety of common vegetarian foods such as legumes, cereals, nuts, soy, and certain vegetables. It detects specific IgE antibodies in the blood that are produced in response to these allergens, helping diagnose food allergies and guide dietary recommendations.

It is recommended for individuals with symptoms like hives, rashes, gastrointestinal distress, respiratory issues, or swelling after consuming plant-based foods. It is especially useful for those following a vegetarian or vegan diet and who experience unexplained allergic symptoms or reactions.

 A blood sample is drawn and tested in the laboratory for IgE antibodies against multiple vegetarian food items. The results indicate whether the person is sensitized to any of the tested foods, aiding in the identification of triggers.

Positive results suggest the presence of food-specific IgE antibodies, indicating sensitization to one or more vegetarian foods. However, clinical correlation is essential as sensitization does not always mean clinical allergy. A detailed history and, if needed, a supervised food challenge may be necessary for confirmation.

The primary approach is strict avoidance of the identified allergens. Your doctor may also recommend carrying antihistamines or epinephrine in case of severe reactions. In some cases, dietary counseling is advised to ensure proper nutrition without the offending foods.
