How is the test performed?

A biopsy or tumor tissue sample is analyzed using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) or PCR to detect TFE3 gene rearrangements.


What do the results indicate?


Positive result: Indicates the presence of TFE3 gene rearrangement, confirming the diagnosis of translocation-associated RCC or ASPS.
Negative result: Absence of TFE3 rearrangement suggests the tumor may be of a different origin.
