It helps select embryos with a normal number of chromosomes, thereby improving the success rate of IVF and reducing the risk of miscarriage or genetic disorders.
A few cells are biopsied from a developing embryo and analyzed using advanced genetic technologies like NGS.
Embryos with normal chromosomal complements are preferred for implantation. Abnormal results may suggest genetic counseling or embryo exclusion.
No special preparation is needed for the embryo, but couples typically undergo genetic counseling before PGS.
