ARSENIC SERUM

CLINICAL INFORMATION Clinical interest in silver analysis is limited to two applications: ---Monitoring burn patients treated with silver sulfadiazine ---Monitoring patients treated with silver- containing nasal decongestants. In both of the above cases, silver deposits in many organs including the subepithelium of skin and mucous membranes producing a syndrome called argyria (greying of the skin). ---Argyria is associated with growth retardation, hemopoiesis, cardiac enlargement, degeneration of the liver, and destruction of renal tubules. USEFUL FOR Monitoring silver (Ag) therapy.

Collection instructions

Collect whole blood in a Metal free vacutainer. Glass tubes should not be used. Allow the specimen to sit at room temperature for 30minutes and then centrifuge immediately. Carefully transfer serum by pouring only.Pour 3 ml serum into a metal free tube, transport tube within two hours of collection.Doctors name and contact details with Clinical history required.
