PNH Test on White Blood Cells (WBCs)

This test detects paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare disorder that leads to the destruction of red blood cells, blood clots, and impaired bone marrow function. The test analyzes white blood cells to identify PNH clones using flow cytometry.

This test is recommended for:

• Individuals with unexplained anemia or hemoglobinuria.
• Patients with thrombosis or bone marrow failure.
• Individuals with aplastic anemia or myelodysplastic syndromes.

A blood sample is collected and analyzed using flow cytometry to detect the absence of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins on white blood cells.

• Positive Result: Presence of PNH clones, indicating PNH.
• Negative Result: No evidence of PNH clones.

Early diagnosis allows for timely management, preventing life-threatening complications such as thrombosis and organ damage.
