Radical Tumour Sample Test in Mangaluru Overview

What is radical tumor sample test?

A "Radical Tumour Sample test" refers to the histopathological examination of a whole or large tissue specimen removed from the body during a radical surgical procedure (like a radical cystectomy for bladder cancer) to analyze a tumor. A pathologist examines the tissue under a microscope to determine the type, size, and stage of the cancer, assess its spread to surrounding tissues and lymph nodes, and check for cancer cells at the surgical margins. This process helps doctors develop an effective treatment plan and understand the patient's prognosis.

Why consider radical tumor sample test?

Provides definitive diagnosis and complete pathologic staging that determine the need for and choice of adjuvant therapy (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted or immunotherapy). Evaluates surgical adequacy (clear margins vs involved), detects adverse features and establishes a baseline for prognosis and follow-up.

Who should get tested for radical tumor sample test?

Patients undergoing radical surgical resection for suspected or confirmed solid tumors across organs (e.g., breast, colon, lung, kidney, bladder, prostate, gynecologic, head and neck, soft tissue). Cases where preoperative biopsy confirmed malignancy or was indeterminate, and definitive resection is performed to both treat and fully characterize the disease.
