IgG and IgM antibodies generated in response to the Brucella bacteria, which cause brucellosis, a zoonotic bacterial infection, are detected by the Brucella total antibodies serum test.
It is advised for people who have symptoms like fever, perspiration, joint pain, and exhaustion, particularly after consuming unpasteurised dairy products or coming into contact with infected animals.
Positive result: Indicates a recent or previous Brucella infection.
A negative result means there is no sign of an infection.
To find antibodies in a blood sample, agglutination techniques or the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are used.
