The Myco3Plex test detects three major mycoplasma species (M. pneumoniae, M. hominis, and Ureaplasma urealyticum) using multiplex PCR.
Individuals with persistent respiratory symptoms, genitourinary infections, or suspected mycoplasma infections should take this test.
A sample from the respiratory tract or genital area is analyzed using PCR to detect DNA from the targeted mycoplasma species.
Positive results indicate the presence of one or more mycoplasma species, necessitating targeted antibiotic therapy.
Appropriate antibiotics such as azithromycin or doxycycline may be prescribed based on the identified species.
