Bone Health Screen: Basic Package in Bengaluru Overview

This panel assesses essential vitamins, minerals, and markers related to bone metabolism, inflammation, and overall health, helping to evaluate bone strength and detect potential bone or metabolic disorders.

Components and Their Roles - BONE HEALTH SCREEN:

  1. 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (Vitamin D Total)
    • Measures vitamin D status, crucial for calcium absorption and bone mineralization.
    • Deficiency can lead to weak bones, increased fracture risk, and bone disorders like osteomalacia or osteoporosis.
  2. Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
    • Important for nerve health and red blood cell production.
    • Deficiency may indirectly affect bone health and cause neurological symptoms.
  3. Calcium
    • A key mineral for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth.
    • Abnormal levels may indicate bone metabolism issues or other systemic problems.
  4. Phosphorus
    • Works closely with calcium to maintain bone structure and function.
    • Imbalances can contribute to bone disease.
  5. Complete Blood Count (CBC)
    • Evaluates overall health, including red and white blood cells and platelets.
    • Can detect anemia or infections that might affect bone or systemic health.
  6. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)
    • A marker of inflammation in the body.
    • Elevated levels may suggest underlying inflammatory or bone diseases.
  7. C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
    • Another sensitive inflammation marker.
    • High CRP indicates active inflammation, which can affect bones and joints.
  8. Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)
    • An enzyme related to bone formation and liver function.
    • Elevated levels may indicate increased bone turnover or liver issues.
  9. Uric Acid
    • Elevated uric acid is associated with gout, a type of inflammatory arthritis affecting joints.

Purpose of the Bone Health Screen: Basic

  • Evaluate vitamin and mineral levels essential for bone strength.
  • Identify inflammation or systemic conditions that might impact bones or joints.
  • Screen for metabolic disorders affecting bones, such as osteoporosis or gout risk.
  • Monitor overall health status in individuals at risk for bone problems.
