FACTOR XIII ACTIVITY, PLASMA Test in Bengaluru Overview
No special preparations needed
- Factor Xiii
- Factor Xiii, Qualitative
This test measures the activity level of Factor XIII, a clotting protein essential for stabilizing fibrin clots in the final stage of coagulation.
It is used to diagnose congenital or acquired Factor XIII deficiency in individuals with unexplained bleeding, poor wound healing, or recurrent pregnancy loss.
A citrated plasma sample is collected via venipuncture. The plasma is analyzed for its clot-stabilizing capability.
Low activity levels suggest Factor XIII deficiency, while normal results may help rule it out in the differential diagnosis of bleeding disorders.
No specific preparation is needed, but a full clinical history including medications and bleeding symptoms is useful.
