LYMPH ENUM,T & B CELL, BLOOD

This test quantifies the number of T-cells and B-cells—key components of the immune system that help fight infections and manage immune responses. T-cells are involved in directly killing infected host cells and activating other immune cells, while B-cells produce antibodies.

It is conducted to evaluate the immune status of individuals, especially those suspected of having immune deficiencies, autoimmune diseases, or who are undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy or organ transplantation that may suppress immune function.

A blood sample is collected and processed using flow cytometry, which identifies and counts the T and B lymphocytes based on specific surface markers.

Abnormal levels may indicate weakened immune responses, underlying infections, autoimmune disorders, or immune system suppression. The test results are often used in conjunction with clinical symptoms and other diagnostic findings.

Generally, no special preparation is required. However, inform your healthcare provider of any medications or health conditions.
