The ZAP-70 (Zeta-associated protein 70) test measures the expression of ZAP-70 in B-cells and is primarily used in the prognosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
This test is recommended for:
- Patients diagnosed with CLL.
- Individuals with indeterminate or early-stage B-cell malignancies.
A blood or bone marrow sample is analyzed using flow cytometry to detect ZAP-70 expression levels in CLL cells.
- High ZAP-70 Expression: Associated with poor prognosis and aggressive CLL.
- Low ZAP-70 Expression: Associated with slower disease progression and better prognosis.
