Vitamin D Plus Profile Test
A more extensive test for Vitamin D, including additioNot Applicablel markers related to bone metabolism and calcium regulation, such as parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. It helps assess overall Vitamin D sufficiency and its role in bone health and metabolism.
Vitamin D Plus Profile Test Package in Mangaluru Overview
Interpretation of Vitamin D Plus Test:
Common causes of hypocalcemia (decreased value of calcium) are chronic renal failure, hypomagnesemia and hypoalbuminemia. Common causes of hypercalcemia (increased value of calcium) are increased intestinal absorption (Vitamin D intoxication), increased skeletal reabsorption (immobilization), or a combination of mechanisms (primary hyperparathyroidism). Primary hyperparathyroidism and malignancy accounts for 90-95% of all cases of hypercalcemia.
Elevated levels of phosphate are an indication of kidney disease while low levels indicate hyperparathyroidism, malnutrition and alcoholism.
Quantification of circulating intact PTH assists in the differential diagnosis hypoparathyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, hypercalcemia or malignancy. Interpretation of intact PTH values should always take into account serum Calcium results and inter-relationship between these two elements in various disorders involving PTH & Calcium. It is recommended that the intact PTH results should always be interpreted with caution & with consideration of the overall manifestations even when used in conjunction with calcium values.

Vitamin D Plus test is recommended in patients suspected to be suffering from hypocalcemia, hypercalcemia, hypophosphatemia, hyperphosphatemia, hypoparathyroidism and hyperparathyroidism, hypoalbuminemia, malignancy, etc.
The Vitamin D Plus test from Agilus tests for Vitamin D, Calcium, Phosphorus and Intact PTH (para-thyroid hormone) to ensure bone health management.
Vitamin D, Calcium and Phosphorus are essential for growth and formation of bones. Intact PTH regulates Calcium, Phosphate and Vitamin D synthesis and thus helps in bone growth and formation. Decrease in serum calcium level increases PTH secretion, restores calcium level and increases secretion of Vitamin D. Vitamin D increases calcium absorption and resorption in bone.
Serum levels of Vitamin D, Calcium, Phosphorus and Intact PTH work in conjunction with each other and hence measuring these values are useful in ascertaining bone related disorders. The vitamin D plus test gives a complete picture of bone health.
Requirement: 10-12 hrs fasting is required.
